You were made for more?

Could it be possible that we are at our best when we are aligned with the one who made us?

We believe God made you with a unique identity and purpose.

“The glory of God is man fully alive" St. Ireneus

God is glorified when we live the full life we are called the live. The problem is we don't always know what direction to run to get to the good life. Don't you feel that lost feeling sometimes?

C.S. Lewis said,
"We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."

Jesus said something similar when he was visiting the towns he ministered in, "When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd." (Matthew 9:38 MSG)

It isn't that we are only concerned with our own pleasure, but when we don't know which way to go to find more, or we are barely surviving, temporary satisfaction may be all we think we can get.

WHAT DO WE DO? Ireneus had a second half to his quote.

"but the life of man is the vision of God.” Ireneus

We all have a vision for what we think fully alive is. God's vision is probably something different, because God can see further than we can see. We often think of God as someone trying to keep us from our best life. God is in fact trying to help us find it. The good life doesn't come from fancy cars and houses, it comes from soul living in freedom, with purpose within community.

This what God says to his people about his vision for them through the prophet Jeremiah, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).

HOW DO WE ALIGN WITH GOD'S VISION FOR OUR LIFE?

  1. Learn God's Word - In order to align with God, we must first learn to hear from God. This will often first happen by spending time in God's word.
  2. Spend Time with God's People - Its hard to do life on your own. Its even harder to walk a difficult path by yourself. If you are going to walk this path toward God, which is the greatest adventure ever. You will need a crew to go with you.
  3. Partner with God's Mission - God's most prized creation are his people. Investing in people and helping them find freedom and live out the call God has on their life is when you will feel most alive.
